Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase Recap

After two weeks filled by announcements, from Xbox Series S and Playstation 5, and today we got the final piece of the puzzle with a Nintendo Direct. Kinda. As the two previous Partner Showcases, the direct was about 10 minutes long and featured some neat announcements from third party partners. Let’s get right into it!

Monster Hunter Rise

A new game in the Monster Hunter franchise was announced, it’s a brand new take on the Monster Hunter experience you know and love. The game will have new gameplay elements and monsters for a fresh look at the universe.

The game will launch on Nintendo Switch, March 26th 2021.

Monster Hunter Stories 2

A lovely surprise, which I don’t think was rumored or leaked beforehand was Monster Hunter Stories 2. A new story-focused RPG set in the MH universe. Like its previous entry, it has more of a cell-shaded style.

We don’t have a lot of details, but the game is launching on the Nintendo Switch in Summer 2021.

Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm & Exercise

One of the things I never could’ve predicted is Fitness Boxing 2. I actually played the first game and getting exercise pain from it. The game will feature new trainers, new modes and a new alarm clock.

The game is launching December 3rd for the Nintendo Switch. The trailer isn’t uploaded yet, so check out the trailer for the first game for now!

Disgaea 6 and Disgaea 5 Complete

Out of nowhere, Nippon Ichi announced Disgaea 6 with a new trailer. Filled with Prinny, combat and if I heard right – the possibility to level up to 1.000.000.

Disgaea 5 Complete will also release as a Free Trial game on Nintendo Switch Online between September 23rd – 29th.

Empire of Sin

We got another look at the tactical mafia game Empire of Sin. We got a look at the protagonist, and not much else

Sniper Elite 4

We also got a look at a game that visually, looks like it came out in 2011. Sniper Elite 4 is making its way onto Nintendo Switch. It’ll release on Holiday 2020, and won’t feature any extra content.

The Long Dark

A new look at the indie survival game The Long Dark, which will feature a story mode, and an infinite permadeath mode which looks amazing.

The game launches later TODAY on Nintendo Switch!

PGA Tour 2K21

We got an announcement for the physical version of PGA Tour, which will launch on September 25th.

Supergiant Games latest title Hades got a confirmed release date for Nintendo Switch. It’ll launch later today, and will be something to look out for. It’s a great development team!

Balan Wonderworld

The next game from the creator of Sonic, Yuju Naka, got another trailer – this time on Nintendo Switch. It was the first look since its initial reveal at the Xbox showcase in July. The game will have over 80 costumes, feature 12 different stages – like wind and water stages.

The game is launching on March 26th, 2021 for Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. The trailer isn’t out yet, but check out the announcement!

Rune Factory 5

We got a new look at Rune Factory 5, showcasing its gameplay, story, and combat. It’s also worth pointing out that the game officially got delayed from 2020 to 2021. Even more interesting is the fact that no date or even month got presented.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

And the final game announcement was Ori and the Will of the Wisps from Moon Studios. Its a treat to finally see the sequel also land on Nintendo Switch. With stunning visuals and an amazing soundtrack, the port looks great. And that’s not all!

There’ll also be a collectors edition for the Nintendo Switch edition which launches in December. For digital owners, however, the game is launching later TODAY!

While the showcase, as the previous two, didn’t really hit any big notes for me. There were some pretty solid announcements. I’m very excited about Monster Hunter Rise and looking at their “Launching Today” titles, both Ori and Hades are games I need to get my hands on right away.

Especially Hades from Supergiant Games, a studio I’ve loved since I finished Transistor – a masterpiece of a game.
I’m excited about the fact that the next Nintendo announcement should be the next Smash character.
